Curriculum Patterns

At Castle Hill High School every aspect of the learning experience has been carefully designed to enhance the life skills of our students. Our school provides for each aspect of the student’s learning experience through:

• Designed curriculum strategies
• A strong welfare program
• Diverse extra curricula activities.

Scripture lessons are also provided each fortnight.
 
Special programs are offered to gifted students, those from Non-English speaking backgrounds and students with learning difficulties.

Years 7 & 8

Year 7 will follow a common curriculum throughout the year. They will study the following subjects, determined by the NSW Board of Studies as mandatory studies:

• English
• Mathematics
• Science
• Geography
• History
• Language
• Visual Arts
• Music
• Design and Technology
• Sport
• Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PD/H/PE)

Years 9 & 10

There are also some new courses that have been introduced and these are identified for students.

The students will study 3 electives during years 9 and 10. each elective represents 200 hours of study for the school certificate.

Some of the electives require payment of fees to cover course costs. It is very important that you are aware of this requirement when you are making your elective choices.
