Gifted & Talented

Castle Hill High School has established and continues to maintain programs to meet the needs of Gifted and Talented students from Year 7 to Year 12. We are committed to providing a learning environment in which students are challenged academically to fulfil their potential.

We have established a G&T stream as part of our normal intake of students for Years 7 -10. Their program of study will offer extension and enrichment of the normal curriculum. The students in the G&T group in Years 7 and 8 will be together for all subjects except Sport, Design and Technology and Visual Arts. In Years 9 and 10, students will be in the same class for their core subjects and independently select their three elective courses.

We have a variety of programs for Gifted and Talented students in senior years that does not focus on the withdrawal of students from mainstream classes, but rather offers extension courses, enrichment and extension in each classroom. In addition we will offer extensive workshops to develop the focus and skills required to achieve at a high level in the HSC. The program will include workshops on goal-setting and study skills.

There are several ways in which students can apply to be part of the gifted and talented class. Year 6 students who wish to be part of the class may sit an exam during the year in preparation for year 7. Students can also be nominated by their parent or caregiver, or their primary school teacher.
